Youth Aging Out of Foster Care

Since 2014, this CRP working group has focused on evaluating Child and Family Service Agency’s approach for working with older youth who are transitioning out of the foster care system. The goal is to ensure that quality services are provided to prepare youth for successful transition to adulthood. Working group activities have included conducting case reviews, holding focus groups, and meeting with key stakeholders.  In 2017, a series of recommendations have been sent to CFSA and this resulted in major changes in the approach for serving this population. The Young Women’s Project was awarded a grant from CFSA to provide services to this group of youth in transition. This is a challenging population that requires a long-term commitment for services and support. Currently, the CRP continues to work in partnership with CFSA to monitor the progress of older youth.
