Youth Aging Out of Foster Care

This is an ongoing CRP working group that focuses on Child and Family Services Agency’s approach to serve older youth who are transitioning out of the foster care system. The overall goal is to ensure that quality services are provided to prepare youth for successful transition to adulthood. Working group activities have included conducting case reviews, holding focus groups, and meeting with key stakeholders.  In 2017, a series of recommendations have been sent to CFSA and this resulted in major changes in the approach for serving this population. This is a challenging population that requires a long-term commitment for services and support. The CRP continues to work in partnership with CFSA to monitor the progress of older youth.
